Technology
At Dwight, Technology is accessible to every member of the School community and is used in every classroom. The School is equipped with a network of over 250 computers, 200 of which are designated for student use. Students and faculty also have access to wireless laptops, laser and color printers, scanners, digital cameras and camcorders. All classrooms are equipped with Smartboards. Wireless networking makes it possible for students to do research on the Internet, send and receive email, and print anytime and anywhere on the Dwight campus. The Technology Labs are open to students, faculty, and staff throughout the day. A Library Media Specialist works with students and faculty on Internet research options. A new film and digital photography arts center has recently been installed. Dwight understands that future innovation lies at the nexus of science, art, design, and technology. Video conferencing opportunities bring students from other lands into our classrooms.
Students in technology classes are taught not only to develop and apply skills but also to adapt to new experiences and to approach problems with the appropriate techniques. With the focus on problem solving, the technology staff encourages the development of creative and innovative solutions. Technology is a part of every grade’s curriculum, with classes meeting at least once a cycle. Offerings include Information Technology, Web Design, Computer Science, Creative Technology, IB Design Technology, Digital Film, Digital Photography, Animation, Robotics, and Online Leadership Training.
