The ICL Fellows Program

What is it and how do I get involved?

The ICL Fellows Program is a membership program for students and teachers to:

  • address central themes
  • challenge young people to think about their world
  • inspire belief in an ability to make a difference
  • guide students toward responsible action
  • engage students in peace education to make sense of the world
  • participate in human rights curriculum and leadership training sessions

It is a school-based membership program for high-school students and teachers. The goal of this initiative is to address the central themes of peace education and to challenge young people to think critically about the world they live in and to guide them in responsible action. ICL prepares its teachers in critical thinking instructional methods.

Why is peace education important?

We believe that there is a need to actively engage young people in making sense of the changing world and to empower them to form attitudes and to take action to improve themselves and their community in a peaceful and meaningful way.

What are the components of the ICL Fellows program and how does it work?

The ICL Fellows program includes participating in a human rights curriculum, training students to become conference facilitators, attending several leadership training sessions as well as a U.N. summit. The group meets as an activity within the Dwight School once a week to discuss and plan its activities.
