The ICL is proud to help students begin a journey of service and self-discovery that will last throughout their lives.
The final result of the ICL methodology occurs when students take action. The seed for action, planted and nurtured through inspiration and education, blossoms with action. The ICL encourages each student to take action in this order: in their own lives, in their classrooms, school, city, and finally around the world.
Examples of take action programs include a range of activities: from simply speaking out on an issue at a school assembly, to promoting environmental preservation for local and national parks, creating political awareness in a home state, to larger issues such as replenishing rain forests in Costa Rica and building schools in the African bush.
The ICL is proud to help students begin a journey of service and self-discovery that will hopefully last throughout their lives.
The ICL makes available its programs for The Dwight School to serve as a model for those schools or groups of students who wish to implement them. See a list.
International Trips
Students who have taken action successfully in their local community are encouraged to broaden their perspective and tackle more global projects. Our flagship summer leadership program takes place in Peru. Through a partnership with the organization Leaders Today, the ICL also sends students to China, India, Kenya, and Mexico. Students first receive intense leadership training before becoming “young ICL Ambassadors abroad.”
